What the What Mixing Myths

We have mentioned several times the Celtic myth of Nuada, Nuada Airgetlám of the Tuatha Dé Danann, but we recently came across a news article that mentions it as well and we thought COOL a more mainstream site touched on the mythological ties to the Unseen Realm in The Golden Army.

Fans of Celtic mythology, too, will recognize the name of the film’s principle villain, Prince Nuada, a character loosely modeled after an important figure in the ancient folklore of Ireland. The film is peppered with other references to the myths of the Celtic tribes, who lived on the Emerald Isle beginning in 700 B.C.

The story behind Celtic mythology and the whimsical tales themselves would make for several interesting movies in their own right.

We are not sure what to think about this.

We learned that the Tuatha Dé Danann appeared in a few DC Comics as a race.

Sweet you say.

So did we… at first.

BUT in the DC Comics, Nuada Silverhand (Airgetlám) is depicted as female and sister to Bres.

We are just going to file this one away as “ok then”.
